Where we come from.
Proximify was founded in 2012 with a straightforward conviction: the people inside institutions — researchers, faculty, decision-makers — are its most valuable asset, but the digital tools that make them visible and connected weren't good enough.
We started in academia, building web platforms for Canadian universities. We learned what institutions actually need — not flashy redesigns, but reliable infrastructure that makes expertise discoverable and keeps working year after year.
Over 12 years, we've evolved into a comprehensive platform company. Uniweb for Academia now powers expert databases, research hubs, and CV management. Along the way, our deep interest in how groups make decisions led to Votiverse — a configurable governance platform that we sponsor as an open-source project, built on the same enterprise-grade engineering we offer our commercial clients.

Democracy isn't a fixed system — it's a technology that can be improved. Liquid democracy, transparent delegation, and community verification are modern improvements. We build them and make them scalable.
Open source matters
Our Uniweb Framework is open source. Votiverse is a non-profit we sponsor. We believe the most important infrastructure should be transparent, auditable, and available to everyone — not locked behind proprietary walls.
